Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the answers to the questions most commonly asked about our pearled wax candles.
What is the best container to use?
It is recommended to use fireproof containers. However, it is possible to use other containers safely, provided they are sufficiently large. The goal is to prevent the melt pool from reaching the edge of the container and to ensure that the container does not become excessively hot during burning. Generally, this means using a container with a minimum width of 10cm at its narrowest part. It's important to test this carefully to ensure the container does not heat up while burning. Additionally, make sure to place at least 5cm of clear space around each wick (use only one wick in a 10cm wide container!), and keep at least 2.5cm between the bottom of the wick and the container bottom. Burn time? How long does it stay lit?
Each wick has a duration of approximately 10-12 hours. The total burning time depends on usage habits. Are you relighting the same wick or refreshing it each time? Are you using one or more wicks simultaneously? How long are you allowing them to burn before refreshing your candle? All of these factors will impact the duration of your pearled candle. It's worth noting that the pearls burn 60% slower than conventional candles.
Is it possible to use my own fragrance?
Yes, simply select one of our Unscented products and apply a few drops of your preferred essential oil or candle fragrance oil near the wick before lighting. Remember to proceed with caution, as oils are highly flammable and should never be added to a lit candle. You'll discover that some oils perform better than others, so experiment cautiously to find the best options. Users are responsible for any changes made to the candles, including alterations in colors and scents.
Are they pet-friendly (safe & suitable for homes with dogs and cats)?
Our pearls are derived from plants, burn cleanly, and are safe for homes with pets. However, we advise keeping them out of pets' reach as they are not meant to be eaten and do involve an actual flame. Rest assured, the pearls are non-toxic and should not cause harm if a small amount is ingested. Additionally, if the candle is accidentally knocked over, pearled candles self-extinguish, providing an extra layer of safety.
Do you need to replace the wick each time?
You can relight the same wick multiple times until it is completely burned. Each wick has a burn time of approximately 10-12 hours. We provide an ample supply of wicks with every pearled candle, allowing you to refresh your candle frequently and keep it looking new. You can also trim the wick to use the unburned portion or flip it to submerge the melt pool, ensuring no waste and maintaining a fresh appearance. Just remember that trimming the wick will reduce the overall burn time.
How are pearled candles extinguished / turned off?
You can use a flame snuffer, lower the wick with a wick dipper, or gently blow it out. No, the pearls won't fly everywhere when you only blow out the flame gently.
Does it work for floating candles?
Yes, our white pearls are buoyant and will float on water. We suggest layering at least a 5cm depth of white pearls on top of the water, ensuring the wick's base does not touch the water. Simply place your desired decorations in a vase, fill it with water until the decorations are submerged, and then add the pearls on top.
Are the pearls reusable after using them as floating candles?
Absolutely! Simply scoop the pearls with a spoon or strain them using a fine-mesh strainer. Afterward, let them air dry on paper towels before reusing. The more spread out, the faster the pearls will dry.
What are the ingredients?
Our pearls are made from premium purified plant-based wax, designed to burn cleanly with minimal smoke or soot. They are free from paraffin, kerosene and other known allergens.
Why does my wick burn out so quickly? What could be causing this?
One of the main reasons the wick might not burn for the full 10-12 hours is if too much of the wick tip is exposed above the pearls. When positioning the wick, ensure that only about 0.5cm of the tip is visible—just enough to ignite it. If more of the wick is left exposed, it can reduce the burn time.
